Free Naloxone Nasal Spray at Chesterfield County Public Libraries
Naloxone, a medication that reverses opioid overdoses, is available for free at all Chesterfield County Public Library locations. If you or a loved one is experiencing an addiction to or have been prescribed opioids, you should have Naloxone on hand.

Prevention Needs Assessment (PNA)
SAFE’s first priority is understanding the issues around substance abuse in our community before identifying and implementing research-based best practices to address those issues. How do we know what needs to be addressed? SAFE’s initiatives are developed in response to issues identified through youth survey data, statistical data, and community input.

Drug-Impaired Driving Prevention
SAFE has been awarded a highway safety grant through Virginia’s Highway Safety Office since the fiscal year 2016. The grant has and will support efforts to reduce alcohol-related crashes in Chesterfield County.

Chesterfield County Opioid and Heroin Treatment Resource Card
In partnership with Chesterfield County Police Department, SAFE has created a resource card to be disseminated throughout the community for those seeking treatment and recovery to get the help they need. These cards are available in English and Spanish.

Opioid and Heroin Overdose Prevention
The last 20 years in the United States have seen an influx of deaths related to opioids. The epidemic was prompted by the over-prescription of opioids to treat pain, but has evolved in recent years, with fentanyl and other synthetic opioids as the main driver of overdoses.
